The Project

Create 3D anatomical models for medical education. The client was University College London (UCL) and the Royal Free Hospital.

The goal was to open-source the 3D print-ready models, allowing free download and modification for a wide range of use cases.

The Work

  • Collaborated with surgeons to create 3D print-ready models of bilateral cleft lip and palate
  • Created the models from DICOM (medical X-ray), sculpted and enhanced to form a full skull
  • Anonymized the data to guarantee patient confidentiality

Tools & Stack: Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, Adobe Creative Cloud

Models are available for free download from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health here.

Standard and open-source 3D file formats are included, such as STL, X3D, and Blend.
